Donnie G. Boyer

Donnie Gordon Boyer, 76, of Elizabethtown, passed away on October 4, 2025. Born on March 13, 1949, to Clyde Boyer and Faye Koser, Donnie was the middle child, growing up alongside his older brother Clyde Jeffrey Boyer, younger sister Cindy Drawbaugh, and step-siblings Jeff Weidman and Gina Baron.

A proud graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Class of 1967, Donnie went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps, deploying with First Battalion, Eighth Marines to Cuba.

After returning home in 1970, Donnie attended Elizabethtown College and soon founded what became Colonial Tax Service, and later Donnie G. Boyer Inc., a trusted local business providing notary, messenger, and tax services for decades. As an Enrolled Agent, Donnie was known as “the tax guy” — always ready to help friends and neighbors with their annual returns. Over the years, his entrepreneurial spirit led him into many ventures, including the tire, Christmas tree, Peugeot car, and cattle businesses.

In May 1975, Donnie purchased a home on Conoy Avenue in Elizabethtown and, just days later on May 11, married Karen Hoffman of Maytown. Together they built a life full of love, family, and community. Donnie is survived by his beloved wife Karen; his oldest son John and his wife Kristal, and their son Maverick; and his youngest son Chad and fiancée Erika, along with his children — Logan, Zach, Lucas, and Kiersten — as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

In 1985, Donnie reenlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, serving with various reserve units including 3/24 in Johnson City, TN, and 1/25 in Devens, MA. He served in Korea during Operation Valiant Blitz, was activated to Okinawa, Japan, in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and later served in Ramadi, Iraq, with the First Marine Division. Donnie continued his service with 2/25 and the 6th Motor Transport Battalion in Red Bank, New Jersey, and in 2009, he retired as a Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank in the Marine Corps.

In 1994, Donnie fulfilled a lifelong dream when he purchased and restored a farm, creating Country Squire Farms, a cherished family home and gathering place. His business, Donnie G. Boyer Inc., continues to be operated by his son Chad, and Donnie was also an original member of KVG LLC, a defense support company operating in over 109 countries, currently led by his son John.

Donnie and Karen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this May and recently shared in the joy of John and Kristal’s wedding in Manhattan on September 5th.

He was deeply committed to his community, supporting the Masonic Lodge, DeMolay, and the United Church of Christ, and was always proud to wear his Marine Corps hat — rarely seen without it.

Donnie’s smile and good nature touched everyone he met. He loved the Marine Corps, taking road trips (even if the destination was just a Holiday Inn), deer camp, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his “workouts” at the gym — mostly for the conversation and coffee — and could often be found watching a good western, reading the newspaper, or organizing his many collections (and occasionally sparring with his sons over what was worth keeping).

Donnie will be remembered for his generous spirit, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to family, community, and country. His legacy of service, laughter, and love lives on in all who knew him.
