Donald Eugene March was born on September 16,1932 and passed away on August 30, 2024, missing his 92nd birthday by two weeks.

Mr. March graduated from Newport High School in 1950, and as an adult, attended Harrisburg Area Community College and Michigan State University.

Don enlisted in the Army and served in conflict from Nov. 1952 through June 1954. "I felt it was my duty to serve my country during the Korean War," he said. His positive military experience had a profound and lasting effect on him and influenced his thinking and actions throughout his working career and family life. Don kept in contact with many of his Army buddies by attending annual reunions of the Army Security Agency. The most important thing he learned in the service was that “no matter how difficult or seemingly impossible a given situation can appear to be, when everyone works together as a team, there are relatively few obstacles that cannot be overcome to succeed in any undertaking".

He and his wife Patricia, who celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary in May, have two daughters, Brenda Quinn (Michael) and Barbara Parker (Ray) and a granddaughter, Hannah Quinn. Nieces and nephews include Edward March, Penny March, Tammy Worrall and Michele Ceo. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Pauline March and his brother Terry March.

Don was dedicated to his family and rarely missed a play, concert, dance recital etc. of his children, granddaughter or nephew and nieces. He taught his daughter’s and granddaughter how to fish and he and Pat spent many vacations when their children were young fishing in Canada. Don enjoyed reading and was an avid bicycle rider who road five to six thousand miles each year well into his 80’s. He was a singer who did both solo work and choral work for most of his lifetime. He was a Past Master of Newport Lodge 381. He had a 32-year-long career in telecommunications. After retirement he & Pat took a 4-month long vacation across the United States. It was the trip of a lifetime as they not only experienced the beauty and vastness of this country but visited Army buddies and extended family and friends who they had not seen for years along the way.

He will be deeply missed by his wife and family who loved him dearly.
