Donald L. Dixon, 79, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord
on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.
Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late James William and
Margaret (Young) Dixon. He was the husband of Martha (Miller) Dixon.
They were married for 59 years.
Donald lived at the Masonic Home for Children and was a 1950 graduate
of Elizabethtown High School. He served in the US Army for three years
during the Korean Conflict. An electrician, he retired from Mount Joy
Wire in 1997 after 30 years. Donald was a member of Word of Life
Chapel in Bainbridge.
He enjoyed model railroading, classic cars and country music.
In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by three daughters:
Valerie Oldham, Marlton, NJ; Dawn Dixon, Elizabethtown and Melanie
Mattison, Mount Joy, two grandchildren: Iain Mattison and Elizabeth
Mattison, and a sister Joanne Westhaver.
He was preceded in death by a son Donald Dixon and a brother Kent Dixon.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Word of
Life Chapel, 139 Wickersham Road, Bainbridge at 11:00 AM. A viewing
will be held on Wednesday at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory,
130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6:00-8:00PM and on
Thursday at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
Interment will take place in West Green Tree Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Occupational
Development Center, 640 Martha Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601.
