Dolly M. Rhine, 91, of Palmyra, died February 13, 2013, in the Royer House, Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, because of complications from a stroke. Dolly, born on November 18, 1921, was the oldest child of the late Walter R. and L. Anna (Krall) Diller of Dillsburg, PA. In her mid teens, she began doing domestic work. At the onset of WWII, she enrolled in the PA War Production Training Program and became a carpenter’s assistant at Olmsted Air Field, Middletown. It was here she met Warren Rhine of Fontana, PA; they married in January 1945. They built a home together in Palmyra, where they raised 4 children. Dolly’s greatest joys in life were raising her children and spending time with the “Diller clan.” Dolly and her family were members of the Fontana Christian Fellowship Church and the Fontana Union Sunday School, South Annville Township. Dolly was active in many of the church's activities for most of her life. Dolly also enjoyed gardening, reading, baking – chocolate cake was her favorite—and taking care of her many flower beds.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Warren, who died on Christmas Day, 2007, and by eight younger brothers and sisters.
Dolly is survived by her children: daughter Ann, New Cumberland; and sons Donald Lee and wife Lynnette, Hagerstown, MD; Edward, Seattle, WA; and Dale and wife Christi, West Chester. She had 5 dearly loved grandchildren: Matthew, Madison, and Michael, West Chester; and Daniel and Benjamin, Hagerstown. Her surviving siblings are her brother Ralph Diller and wife Suzie of San Pedro, CA; brother Robert Diller and wife Carol of Hinesville, GA; sister Roxie Lent of Carlisle, PA; sister Linda Smitz and husband Curt of Carlisle, PA; and sister-in-law Joanne Diller of Dillsburg. PA. She is also survived by Warren's younger sister, Doris and husband Paul Wilt, Santa Barbara, CA, and by many nephews and nieces and their spouses and children.
