Dennis R. Goretzke

Dennis R. Goretzke, 65, of Elizabethtown, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital.  Born Saturday, December 7, 1956, in Lancaster, he was the son of Ronald W. Goretzke and the late Mildred J. (Wolgemuth) Goretzke.

Dennis was an avid reader and lover of science and history. He graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1974. He spent his post high school years, partnered with his brother, as owners of Erb Brother’s Mobile Station in Elizabethtown. During this time, he also owned Mid-Penn Glass and Mirror in Mount Joy. He also assisted in the family’s business, Conoy Trucking Inc. He worked for Lowe’s (in Harrisburg then in Dayton, OH) for 10 years. He then began working for Bomberger’s Store in Lititz and was dedicated to serving the needs of his customers. He was most happy when he was with his grandchildren and when spending weekends at the family’s cabin.

He is survived by two children: Heather L. Costa, married to Joseph, of Gloucester, VA, and Michael D. Goretzke, married to Mindy, of Elizabethtown.  Also surviving are his father, Ronald, of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; a brother, W. Dwain Goretzke, married to Theresa, of Elizabethtown, as well as Dennis’ extended family and caring friends.

A Celebration of Dennis’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 6-8 PM in the Community Building of Millersville Church, 3116 Blue Rock Road, Lancaster, PA  17603.  Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.
