Dean D. Fernsler, 78, of Campbelltown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born July 18, 1947 to the late Paul and Arlene (Bachman) Fernsler. He is survived by his loving wife, of 55 years, Barbara (Borden) Fernsler.

Dean was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served honorably in the Vietnam Theater. He remained deeply committed to his community throughout his life, as a North Londonderry Township Supervisor and a member of the American Legion. He spent many years working for the PA Department of Community Affairs in Harrisburg, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work. Dean’s career allowed him to help volunteer fire departments across the state with budgeting and planning, ensuring they could operate efficiently and continue serving their communities. He was most proud of saving the Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company allowing them to continue to protect and serve the community that he grew up in.

An avid golfer, Dean loved being outdoors, especially in the mountains or at the beach. He enjoyed taking long drives, going on trips, and embracing the beauty of the fall season. Known for his sweet tooth, he never passed up a cream filled donut or oatmeal raisin cookie. His motto, “Soldier On,” reflected his strength, perseverance, and positive spirit and will remain his legacy. Above all, Dean cherished his family and grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Meghan Johnson and husband Ben, Jeremy Fernsler and wife Marianne; and grandchildren, Madelaine, Margaret, and Meredith Johnson, Lida and Roger Fernsler. He is predeceased by a brother, Larry Fernsler.

Service details will be published at a later date.
