On the evening of March 8, 2014, David Barnhurst Thompson passed away at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA of natural causes. He was 83 years old.
David was born on January 11, 1931 in Jenkintown, PA. His parents were the late Henry and Jeanette Thompson. David, was preceded in death by his brother Joseph, and his beloved life partner, George Haddad. He is survived by his niece, and nephew from California, Jeanne P. Thompson from Santa Cruz and Joseph D. Thompson from San Diego.
David was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He worked as a window designer at B.Altman’s in New York City, before moving to Cranberry Lake, NJ where he and George were the proprietors of an antique and gift Country Store called "Frogmore".
He retired and relocated in Marietta, PA, where he opened the Le Petit Museum of Musical Boxes, which was also their home for many years. The museum was open to the public on the weekends, and he enjoyed giving tours to the many visitors, while explaining in great detail the many music boxes he had on display. The museum was featured in the AAA Travel magazine as well as many other national publications. He was a member of the Marietta Restoration Association.
David was a kind and gentle soul who truly believed that his angels watched over him and guided him through life. He had a beautiful warm smile for everyone and will truly be missed by all who knew him. Arrangements will be made for a graveside service at the West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA on April 18, at 11:30 a.m.
