CYNTHIA GOOD HITZ

Cynthia Good Hitz, 59 , of Elizabethtown, PA , entered The Church Triumphant on June 11, 2014 following a brave fight against lung cancer.

Cindy was born in Johnstown, PA on August 15, 1954. Having graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Math, and a minor in Physics from Dickinson College.

She was married to Greg Hitz on October 18, 1980; they were married over 33 years .

Cindy worked for General Public Utilities fo r 13 y ears as a process engineer, senior chemist, and RAD waste manager. In 1994 she joined PA American Water Company and retired after 19 years as a production supervisor.  Upon her retirement, the PA American Water Company honored her by dedicating the West Shore Water Facility in her name.

She enjoyed gardening, needle point, puzzles, cooking, reading, music, traveling, and much more . She was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church participating in choir, bells, lay assistant, and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth.

Cindy is survived by her husband Greg Hitz, a daughter Christy Shenk and her husband Andy of Elizabethtown, a son Gregg Hitz Jr. and his wife Stacie of Rheems, a sister Melinda Tackett and her husband Bruce of Erie, a brother David Good and his wife Mikki of Elizabethtown, and other family and friends.

Cindy is preceded in death by parents Ray and Marjorie Good .

The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday June 14, 2014 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 East High St., Elizabethtown, PA . Pastor A.J. Domines will be officiating.

The family of Cindy Hitz wishes to thank the nurses of 8-Lime, and 6-Lime ICU at Lancaster General Hospital. Without their incredible attention and compassion to Cindy and her family, this would have been an impossible journey to take. We also would like to thank the Doctors, aids, cleaning staff, and food service at LGH for their support as well. We wish to express deep gratitude to the Doctors and staff at the Lancaster Cancer Center Ltd. with special thanks to Dr.’s L. Dumasia and T. DeGreen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Christ Lutheran Church in memory of Cindy, or to the American Cancer Center Lung Research, PO Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033 (in the memo section of the check write “Cindy Hitz”).
