Clara J. (Carlisle) Leonard

Clara “Jean” (Carlisle) Leonard, 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away with family by her side in Manor Care Health Services in Carlisle on Thursday, October 25, 2012. She was born Wednesday, January 29, 1930 in Harrisburg to the late Stephen and Clara (Duttenhoffer) Carlisle. She was predeceased by her loving husband, in 1983, Jack E. Leonard, Sr.
She was a vibrant woman who loved to play the piano, sing and dance. She was fervent about the Bible, spending time reading and meditating on it. Clara was a member of the Verhovay Club. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed by her loyal K9 companion Hooper.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Sue Gasper and husband Fred of Harrisburg, Dianne Blackburn of Harrisburg; 2 sons, Jack Leonard, Jr. and wife Teresa of Mechanicsburg, Bob Leonard and wife Marsha of Camp Hill; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister Sarah Barr. She was predeceased by 6 siblings, Steve, William, Robert, and George Carlisle, Ann Peltier and Esther Quaid.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1
st
at 11 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Chaplain Keith Searfoss officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in East Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg.
