Catharine D. (Carbough) Olweiler

Catharine D. Olweiler, 101, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Born October 26, 1923 in Highspire, she was the daughter of the late Vance and Ella (Bush) Carbough. She was married 61 years to Lawrence H. Olweiler who passed away in August 2001.

Catharine was a seamstress, working for numerous area garment factories, as well making designer gowns on her own. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown and, also helped with cooking at Goods Mennonite Church. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center, riding motorcycle, camping and going to the beach, and travelling across the country, all with her husband.

Surviving are five children; Geraldine S. Meyerhoffer (Ray) of Elizabethtown; Sandra K. Shaeffer of Marietta; Linda J. Geib (Greg Flick) of Rheems; Lawrence Edward Olweiler (Mary Ann) of Shippensburg and Ronald H. Olweiler of Bainbridge; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Catharine was preceded in death by two sisters Sylvia and Hazel, a brother Frank; a sons-in-law William Shaeffer and Randy Geib and two grandsons Terry and Larry Meyerhoffer.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA at 2:00 PM. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Goods Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
