Carol Elizabeth Farmer, 79, moved into Heaven on Friday, June 9th, 2023. She was born the last of seven girls to Alta (Hostetter) Zook. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, David L. Farmer.
Carol was born in Belleville, PA, and graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School. She began her career as a manager for Montgomery Ward, a catalog department store. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and supported her husband in myriad ways, running several businesses throughout their life together. She was organized and efficient. She was an encourager and supported her children and grandchildren in their own entrepreneurial pursuits.
In her later years, she worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship, sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children. She loved clothes and worked at Jones New York for years where she made several life-long friends. Most recently, she volunteered, working with her great niece supporting her and her boutique. She attended Conoy Brethren in Christ Church, where she started a puppet ministry and served on the board of directors of the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction, initiating and supervising the Children’s Auction for 15 years.
Her hobbies included traveling with David (They visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe), swimming, gardening and creating stained glass windows. Her home includes many beautiful windows completed by Carol. Her favorite place was the beach and St. Augustine. Later in life, she took a gold medal in the Senior Olympics in Florida. She was devoted to her family, and her home served as a focal point for regular gatherings. She designed her home for this, and she adored a house filled with laughter and her grandchildren playing Dutch Blitz. Visitors often commented on a poinsettia she kept alive for so long that it became a tree. Her only collection was her many friends and family who counted on her for love, laughter and support.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Cherise Harper (married to Brian Harper) and Danielle Malik (married to Maqsood Malik); granddaughters Jordan Keiser (married to Zach Keiser), Yasmeen Malik, Aneesa Malik, Layla Malik and grandsons, Dakota Harper and Armaan Malik. She always looked forward to spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10 AM at Conoy Brethren in Christ Church (1722 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, PA), followed by a lunch at the residence (112 Hillsdale Road, Elizabethtown).
