Bryce A. Bigler, 2, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with Niemann Pick Disease Type A.

He was born on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Lancaster, PA the son of Matthew Bigler and Cortney Showalter.

Bryce was always a happy, content child with a smile that could light up a room and never wanted to be treated differently because of his illness.

He enjoyed watching the Bubble Guppies and Looney Toons, and especially liked Porky Pig. Giraffe’s were his favorite of all the animals.

Bryce ultimately loved fire trucks and because of this he was an honorary member of Elizabethtown Fire Department, Rheems Fire Department and North Irwin Fire Company. He was also bestowed the title of Chief, Lieutenant, and Paramedic at other fire departments.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandfather Keith Showalter of Elizabethtown, maternal grandmother Marian Williams and her husband Jeff of Elizabethtown, paternal grandfather Keith Bigler of Jeannette, PA, paternal grandmother Mary Smith and her husband Larry “Smitty” of Jeannette, PA, an aunt Lindsey Showalter of Elizabethtown, an uncle Scott Bigler and his wife Devon of Manor, PA, several cousins and a large extended family.

A memorial service to honor Bryce will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road Mount Joy, PA 17552, with Pastor Jim Moynihan officiating.

Visitation will be from 1pm until 2pm on Saturday in the church.
