Brett D. Shope, 27, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center from injuries sustained in a work related accident from October of 2013.
He was born on May 25, 1986 in Harrisburg, PA to Douglas A. & Tina M. (Taylor) Shope.
He was a 2004 graduate of Middletown Area High School and also from ITT Technical Institute.
Brett was employed by the Lower Swatara Township Public Works Department.
He attended Conewago Church of the Brethren, Hershey.
Brett enjoyed bow fishing, duck & goose hunting, archery hunting, Sunday football watching the San Francisco 49’ers, and bon fires.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters Brittany D. Shope of Middletown, Blaire N. Shope of Middletown, his paternal grandparents Lehman & Marilyn Shope of Middletown, his maternal grandmother Joyce Taylor of Palmyra, his maternal grandfather Harry Taylor and his wife Wanda of Palmyra, three aunts Deb Ferguson and her husband Todd, Teri Ferster and her husband Mike, Jenny Buck and her husband Chris, an uncle Greg Taylor and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by an uncle Dale Shope.
Funeral services will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036, with Pastor Scott Cooper officiating.
Burial in Conewago Church Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be from 3pm until 6pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey.
Arrangements are under the care of the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory of Elizabethtown.
