Beverly J. (Reed) Swartz

Beverly Jane (Reed) Swartz, 84, of Middletown, passed away at home with family by her side on Saturday, December 17, 2016.  She was born Thursday, December 31, 1931 in Enid, Oklahoma to the late Wiley Levi Reed and Irene (Flood) Young.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of more than 40 years, Solomon L. Swartz, Jr..

Beverly worked in and retired from the Finance Office at Penn State Capitol Campus.  She had served as Secretary/Treasurer and then President of the Middletown Interfaith Council and had been active with the Middletown Thrift Shop and Adult Day Care Center. She was a Christian and a member of the United Methodist denomination.  Beverly loved her family, to whom she was devoted, and her beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her children, Solomon L. Swartz, III (Stephanie), Valerie J. Swartz, Michael E. Swartz (Mary), Mitchell R. Swartz (Kathy), Richard B. Swartz (Joette), and Melissa I. Barilla (Robert, Jr.); 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a sister, Carolyn Walborn; and her best friend and companion, Aaron Peiffer.  She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Lee; and a granddaughter, Raylen Swartz.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1 PM at Fager-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 208 N. Union St., Middletown 17057.  Burial will follow in the Middletown Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from noon until time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg 17110 or the Dementia research organization of your choice.
