Betty C. Shelley

On February 21st, 2026, Betty C. Shelley entered eternal rest at home in Middletown, PA. She was born on January 15th, 1936, in Hanover, PA to the late Fabian and Grace (Hockensmith) Weaver. She was married for 48 years to Charles H. Shelley (deceased in December 2005) and lived life as a mother and Registered Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Shelley; her three children, Patrick John, Philip Jacob, and Paul Joseph Shelley Sr.; her brothers, Robert and Richard Weaver; her son-in-law, Richard King; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Shelley.

She is survived by her children, Rose M. King, married to Richard (deceased) of Lancaster, Louise A. Gates, married to Robert of Middletown, Peter J. Shelley of Harrisburg, Kathalyne R. Heisey, married to David of Manheim, Linda J. Garrity, married to Thomas Jr. of Elizabethtown, Patrick J. Shelley, married to Deanne of Harrisburg, Philip J. Shelley, married to Kayla of Oxford, Perry J. Shelley, married to Stacy of Middletown, Jeannine A. Melvin, married to Edward of Elizabethtown, and Percy J. Shelley of Texas; as well as 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister, Mary Brown, wife of Henry of Elizabethtown.

Betty as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, especially Canasta.

A viewing for relatives of Betty will be held at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA on Monday, March 2nd from 6 pm-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10 am at Seven Sorrows BVM Church, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, PA followed by interment next to her husband at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Ranck Mill Ave and Grofftown Rd., Lancaster, PA.
