Betty S. (Shutter) Landis

Betty (Shutter) Landis, 88, of Myerstown, formerly of Palmyra, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at The Good Samaritan Hospital.  She was born Saturday May 15, 1926 in Lebanon County to the late Harvey W. and Beulah R. (Putt) Shutter.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter W. Landis.

In 1988 Betty retired from the H.B. Reese Candy Company after 31½ years of faithful service.  She attended several local churches in Palmyra and was a former member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren.  Betty enjoyed keeping her hands busy doing needlework and crocheting, as well as working in her garden.  Most importantly she was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a son, Larry G. Landis of Elk Grove, CA; a grandson, Bryan M. Landis of Sacramento, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by daughter, Lucinda L. Patton; and siblings, Charles, Harry and Harvey Shutter and Dorothy Kern.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 30th at 11:00 AM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078, with Reverend Douglas Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until time of the service.
