Betty Louise Charles

Betty Louise Charles, 78, of Elizabethtown passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Born in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Marian D. (Druckenmiller) Spangler. She was the loving wife of Richard A. Charles.

Betty graduated from Chief Logan High School, class of 1965. She loved to travel and take photographs. While on trips with her husband, she would often ask to pull over so she could snap a photo of a church or a sunset, always reminding people to stop and admire the beauty around them. Above all, she was a loving wife, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by two children, William “Todd” Charles and wife Barbara, and Jill Suzette Currier and husband Stephen; five grandchildren, Jarod, Zachary “Tank”, Kayla, Jade, and Karly; one great-grandchild, Teagan; three siblings, Sally A. Fanus and husband Ken, Robert E. Spangler and wife Dee, and Linda K. Moyer; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, PA. A time of visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of service.
