Bernice Shepler Retherford

Bernice Kay (Shepler) Retherford, 77, entered into heaven on November 7, 2014 at her home in Middletown. Born in Bachmanville, December 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Edith Mae (Shellenhamer) Shepler. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Ernest Diemler Retherford.

Bernice worked side by side with her husband on their family farm and was still helping at their roadside stand. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and kept her hands busy building puzzles and doing cross-stitch needlework. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra Kay R. Lancaster and husband Daniel; a son, Ernest D. Retherford, Jr.; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wallace; and a sister, Linda. She was predeceased by a brother, R. George “Jut”; and 3 sisters, Esther “Sis,” Joyce “Tip,” and Shirley.

Friends and family are invited to attend the graveside service on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hillsdale Cemetery (formerly Geyers Church Cemetery) at 3 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022.
