Barry Lee Shellenhamer, 81, of Palmyra, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and faithful follower of Christ, passed away peacefully at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, December 14, 1943 in Hershey to the late Albert Luther and Susan Elizabeth (Wert) Shellenhamer. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Lee (Hallman) Shellenhamer.
Barry graduated from Hershey High School in 1961, where he excelled both academically and athletically, playing basketball and baseball. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned several distinctions, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Marksman Rifle (M-14) commendation. His professional career was spent in printing, retiring as a film assembler. A man of deep faith, he was a dedicated member of Encounter Church of Palmyra, where he especially cherished the men’s fellowship breakfasts and the strong community they provided. His devotion to Christ was evident in the way he lived his life — particularly in the way he led and loved his children and grandchildren, always guiding them in the light of Christ. He was also a passionate sports fan, with a lifelong love for the Hershey Bears. Whether cheering from the stands or watching with family, he found great joy in sports. Above all, Barry's faith and family were his greatest treasures. His legacy of love, strength, and unwavering belief will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
