Barry D. Riegle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Palmyra, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was 80 years old. Born on June 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Daniel H. and Beatrice L. (Keath) Riegle. Barry is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Judith A. (Shirk) Riegle.
A proud veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard, Barry spent over 30 years as the owner of K&G Hardware. After retiring from the hardware business, he worked in security for Hershey Park where he eventually was promoted to Corporal in charge of the park.
Barry had a long history of civic involvement; he volunteered at the Caring Cupboard Food Pantry, and served on the Palmyra Borough Council before moving to North Londonderry Township, where he served as a Township Supervisor for 25 years. He also contributed to the Palmyra Area Recreation and Parks Commission for 40 years, a role that earned him the honor of having a scholarship program renamed in his memory. Barry was also proud to serve as president of the Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club.
In his spare time, Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing volleyball. He was a faithful member of the Hershey Free Church. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his dedication to his community.
In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by his sons, Joey Riegle and wife Tammy, and Tracy Riegle and wife Karen; his grandchildren, Timothy Riegle, Julie (Riegle) Evans, and Rianna Riegle; his great-grandchildren, Gavin Riegle, Josie, Sadie, and Wesley Evans; and his sisters, Cindy Gibson, Dixie Riegle, and Wendy Crawford. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Karen and Cory Riegle, and his sister, Bonnie Herr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to any local animal shelter or to his church, Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Rd., Hummelstown, PA 17036.
