Barry Lee Minick, 75, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Masonic Village Elizabethtown. He was born Wednesday, November 29, 1939 in Lancaster to the late Scott and Hazel (Rutter) Minick. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (Sweigart) Minick.
He graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1957 and began working full time for Ebersole Brothers, for which he had been working since the age of 16. In 1974 the company was sold to Moyer Packing Company and in 1979 to R.E. Ebersole, Inc. where he held 20% ownership. He retired in 2013 following nearly 60 years of dedicated service. He was a lifetime member and past president of Conewago Rod and Gun Club, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and Milton Grove Sportsman’s Club. He was a hunter’s education instructor for 50 years, sharing his knowledge and love of the outdoors with younger generations. He was a steward of the land, a true hunting and fishing outdoorsman, and a loving family man.
He is survived by a son, Robert L. Minick and wife Edith May of Mount Pleasant Mills; two grandsons, Aaron Lee and Logan Robert Minick; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Baby Boy Minick; a brother, David Minick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29 th at 11 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Rev. Albert J. Domines officiating. Burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery, Bainbridge. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service at the church. Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown has been entrusted with the arrangements.
