Barbara M. Royer, 77, of Mount Joy, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was born Wednesday, August 13, 1947, in Johnstown to the late Emile and Zona (Weaver) Slick.
Barbara graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1966 and attended Empire Beauty school. Later in life she got her certificate of Medical Assistance from Thompson Institute. She was a member of Bright Hope Fellowship Church for 20 plus years. She was a woman of great faith. Barbara held several jobs but the most important to her was being a house parent alongside her husband for people with special needs. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. Her big heart and personality will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James R. Royer; four daughters, Amy Ritchie (Brian), Polly Fahnestock (Edward), Amanda Fahnestock (Todd) and Cora Miller (Robert); twelve grandchildren, Anna Royer, Johnny Balmer (Sara), Bobby Coffey, Brittany Coffey, Kimberly Balmer, Emile Muth (Andrew), Araya Fahnestock, Grace Miller, Keara Fahnestock, James Miller, Trent Fahnestock and Skyelar Fahnestock; eight great-grandchildren, Alysse Royer, Lilly Zahm, Rebecca Zahm, Cayden Balmer, Ryder Balmer, Freya Muth, Aminah Coffey, Harper Rose Balmer and one on the way. She was predeceased by a son in law, Brian Ritche and her two brothers John Stephenson and Bryan Slick
Family and friends are invited for viewing on Friday, September 6th from 10 to 11 AM at Bright Hope Fellowship, 345 Deodate Road, Middletown, PA 17057. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Jitesh Soans officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Cumberland Vista, Cross Inc, 712 Pinola Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
