Anita M. (Freet) Wenrich

Anita Margaret Wenrich (Freet) passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20 at age 86.  Anita was a resident of Londonderry Village in Palmyra PA since 2012.

Anita was born and grew up in Hershey PA.  She was the daughter of Willard "Bill" Freet and Pauline (Rhoads) Freet.  As a young child she lived on a farm outside Hershey and for a few years she attended a one room schoolhouse with her brother and sister before returning to Hershey for her High School years.  Years later she would take her grandchildren to the "Little Red School House" in Florham Park NJ and describe to them how she attended such a school.

After graduating from Hershey High School, she attended Hershey Junior College and then West Chester State College where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching.  During college she worked as a Hershey Factory Tour Guide.  After college she married William "Bill" Wenrich in 1960.  They were married for 61 years before Bill's death in 2022.  After their marriage they moved to Liberty New York where they were teachers at the same school, Bill was a math teacher and Anita taught Physical Education.  In 1962 they moved to Florham Park, New Jersey where they would live for the next fifty years.

Anita raised three children, William (Bill), Cindy, and Michael.  During this time Anita also worked part time as a substitute teacher and was active at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park.  Anita fondly recalled a program at Calvary church where she tutored children who needed help with their studies.  This gave her tremendous joy.  The family has fantastic memories of Anita and Bill taking their children and grandchildren to the Yellow House in Kitty Hawk NC and their grandchildren on trips to Europe.

Anita is survived by her brother Willard "Bill" Freet and sister Sonja Freet.  And by her children Bill with wife Mary Beth, Cindy Laird with husband Dwayne, and Michael with wife Samantha, and grandchildren Erica, William, Amy, Nicholas, Brian, and Evelyn.  Plus eight great grandchildren and six nieces.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at noon at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of viewing will be held from 10:30AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service at the Hershey Cemetery, Hershey.
