Alma Irene (Estep) Updegraff-Covert

Alma Irene Updegraff-Covert, 81, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Dora F. (Lindamood) Estep. She was the wife of the late Matthew N. Covert who died in 2006. Her first husband, Kenneth J. Updegraff, Sr. died in 1989.
Irene was a member of Bright Hope Fellowship, Middletown. She was retired from Hestico, where she worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed cleaning and yard work.
Irene is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Brian) Eshleman, Stevens; Brenda (Bob) Kelchner, Elizabethtown; two sons: Kenneth (Donna) Updegraff, Jr., Elizabethtown; Timothy Updegraff, Palmyra; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three sisters: Martha Copenhaver, Helen Mitchell and Frances Miller; and two brothers: William Estep and Austin Estep.
She was preceded in death by a sister Hilda Helmick, and six brothers: Nelson, Kirby, Galen, John and Richard Estep, and Charles Lindamood.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Bright Hope Fellowship, 345 North Deodate Road, Middletown at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be Monday at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6:00-8:00 PM and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Shenk’s Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
