Allen E. Wenrich, 93, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Born in West Reading to the late Marvin A. and Esther M. (Foltz) Wenrich. He was the beloved husband to Nancy (Blatt) Wenrich for 63 years.

Allen was a graduate of the former Shillington High School, class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953 as a hospital corpsman. He graduated from Albright College in 1958 with a B.S. in Economics and earned his M.S. in education from Temple University in 1968. He was employed by the Commonwealth of PA as a supervisor for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation of Reading, retiring in 1991.

As a proud 32nd degree Mason, Allen was a member of St. John’s Lodge 435, F&AM of Reading. He was also a member of the York and Scottish Rites, Shrine International, and the American Legion Post 635, Shillington, PA. He was also a life member of the Reiffton Fire Company, Reading.

Allen was a former member of Immanuel UCC in Shillington, PA, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder, Consistory President and other elected and appointed offices. Allen was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for 25 years. He served as Flotilla Commander, Division XI Captain, District Staff Officer, Career Candidate Officer, Firth Coast Guard District, Northern Region and National Branch Chief for Career Candidates. He received many Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary awards, including the Meritorious Service Award for superior performance of duties.

In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his brother, Mark R. Wenrich of Reading; niece, Karen Sponagle of Sinking Spring; two nephews, Kevin R. Wenrich of Mohnton, and Andrew A. Wenrich of Bucks County; four grand-nephews; two grand-nieces; and a great grand-niece.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11AM at Sell Chapel, 200 Freemason Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service.
