Alice C. Snavely
Alice C. Snavely, 93, of Mount Joy and formerly of Marietta where her heart remained, went to be with the angels on September 15, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was born on August 25, 1922 in Marietta to the late Earl and Florence (Matthews) Zink. She was married to Henry P. Snavely on March 8, 1941. Mr. Snavely died on August 3, 2004.
Alice was a lifelong, devout member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Marietta. After retiring from Wyeth Labs, she was available to enjoy watching the many birds that flocked to her well-stocked feeders, a pastime that gave her great pleasure. Above all, Alice will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She will be lovingly missed by a son, Paul E. Snavely, of Mount Joy; a daughter, Vivian Elaine Young, of Montpelier, ID; a daughter-in-law, Dustie Snavely, of Lancaster; two sisters, Bernetta Smeltzer, of Mountain Top and Dawn Hoffer, of Mountville as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald L. and Craig L. Snavely as well as a sister, Grace Jaco.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 239 East Market Street, Marietta, PA 17547 with Father Nelson K. Baliira officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family from 11 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
