Miriam Roth Hyder, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Vincent and Louise Lambert Roth of Germantown, Pennsylvania. Miriam was a 1953 graduate of Germantown High School, attended Moore College of Art and Design, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters in Education from Kutztown University and taught middle school art at Eastern Lebanon County for over 25 years. An avid quilter and opera buff, Miriam also loved to travel and counted Alaska and England as two of her favorite destinations. Miriam also loved the ocean, having grown up each summer vacationing in Avalon, New Jersey at her family’s summer home. Miriam loved sharing her stories of old Avalon where her dad was the neighborhood ice man and where she spent her teenage years working at the local ice cream parlor on the Avalon Boardwalk and at Flanders Hotel in nearby Ocean City. In addition to her beloved south jersey shore, her greatest love and devotion belonged to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Charles and Michael, daughter Louise, granddaughter Mary, and grandsons Alex, John Ryan and Max. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral & Crematory, Elizabethtown.
