Maryann Ruth (Whitty) Zimmerman

MaryAnn R. Zimmerman, 79, of Hershey, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Patricia Feloneise (Murphy) Whitty. She was married 31 years to George W. Zimmerman who passed away in June 1998.

MaryAnn was a 1963 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she taught CCD for 15 years and helped many years with summer Bible School. She attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra. MaryAnn was a past president of the Paxtang PTA and was chairman for two years for the Paxtang Halloween Parade. She was a member of the National Storytelling League since 1966, served as it’s President from 2009-2018 and was well known for her Halloween stories. Additionally, MaryAnn was a Girl Scout Leader and Brownie Consultant in Harrisburg for over 25 years.

MaryAnn is survived by two children: a daughter Feloneise M. Light (Tom) of Palmyra; a son John M. Zimmerman (Penny) of Harrisburg; three grandchildren: Sarah, Hannah and Mariana, and one great grandchild Skylar. She was predeceased by a son James J. Zimmerman and two sisters: Jamie and Judy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with family will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
