Irene I. (Palmer) Wertz, 90, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.  She was born Wednesday, October 22, 1924 in New Oxford, PA to the late Daniel and Ida (Masemore) Palmer.  She was married to William H. Wertz for over 63 years.  William died on January 3, 2007.

Irene worked for a number of years at the former State Hospital for Crippled Children in Elizabethtown.  She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Elk County.

She will be lovingly missed by a daughter, Pamela S. Hogentogler and husband, Barry, of Columbia; five grandsons; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Houck, of Hanover as well as Irene’s extended family and caring friends.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia G. Chapman as well as 11 siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Miller-Sekely Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 with Chaplain Timothy A. Nickel officiating.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family from 6 PM until the time of the service on Friday.  Private interment will be in Messiah Baptist Church Cemetery, Kylertown, PA at the convenience of the family.
