Dennis E. Bitner

Dennis E. Bitner, 73, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born Friday, September 10, 1943 in Sparrows Point, MD, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Dorothy E. (Brownawell) Bitner. He was married 49 years to Barbara A. (Lawrence) Bitner of Elizabethtown.
A sheet metal worker, Dennis retired from Local #19 in Philadelphia. He was a member of Maytown Church of God, and was a life member of Milton Grove Sportsman’s Club. A co-owner of “End of the Line” hunting camp, Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and was an avid fan of sports cars, auto racing and football, and loved eating blue crabs.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by three children: Christina L. Scheaffer (Scott) of Middletown; John R. Bitner (Janelle), and Shaun E. Bitner (Lori), both of Elizabethtown; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Maytown Church of God, 10 West Elizabeth Street, Maytown, beginning promptly at 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends may greet the family at a reception immediately following the service.
Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
