Debra (Debi) Murray, 45, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on Sunday, January 17, 1971 in San Francisco, CA to William C. and Gael W. Humphreys and on May 27, 2000, married Thomas E. Murray.

Debi was a 1993 graduate of the College of William and Mary, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  She received a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from American University in 1995 and began her professional career at Elmira College from 1995-97. She joined the Elizabethtown College Admissions Office in 1998 and served in several capacities including ten years as Director of Admissions.  She was the adviser to the Colleges against Cancer student group and each year led their Relay for Life event on campus.  She volunteered her time with the Blue Jay women’s volleyball team, first as an assistant coach and later as one of their most vocal supporters. She mentored several generations of players and was a model of strength and perseverance.

In addition to her husband of over 16 years, she will be lovingly missed by her children; Grace and Bryan Murray, of Elizabethtown; her parents, Bill and Gael, of West Chester; a brother, Andy Humphreys as well as Debra’s extended family and caring friends.

Closed casket visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
