Richard Warren Wallace, 89, of Palmyra, passed away on April 10, 2024. He was born September 14, 1934, in Lebanon to the late George and Miriam (Spancake) Wallace. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Rebecca Wallace; a son, Terry R. Wallace and sister, Shirley Miller.
Dick (also known as RW, or Pooh, or Pop) is a graduate of Palmyra Area High School. After working several small jobs he took a sales position at Hobart Sales & Service in Harrisburg, Pa. Dick was very successful in his sales position, earning him several Hobart Topper awards. In 1972 Dick purchased the Hobart Sales & Service Agency, moving from sales person to business owner, and successfully built the business for the next 40 years. He retired in 2011, but that is not the end of his story. For over 70 years he was greatly involved in the Palmyra Sportsmen's club, serving many years as an officer and promoter of club activities. He enjoyed shooting archery and took every opportunity to share his love of the sport with the younger generation. He was instrumental in bringing the JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) program to the club. He was a coach for the National Archery team as well. He was an avid Penn State fan, he enjoyed golf, both watching and playing, and of course Nascar. Hunting was also a major part of his life. He especially enjoyed the time he spent hunting with his son's and son-in-laws. Leader, coach, friend…those are his achievements!
He is survived by two daughters, Debra J. Hentz (Blair) and Wendy J. Hoffer (Kenneth); a son, David W. Wallace (Janet); grandchildren, Angie Cooley, Heather Kickbusch, Jaime O’Malley, Tonya Stoffel, Jessica Wallace and Andrew Wallace; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
